Family Literacy Nights are an excellent way to engage parents and provide ideas for them to support their child's learning.
Purposes of family literacy events:
To provide parents ways to support their child's reading & writing growth
To help parents partner with teachers to strengthen their child's learning
To build positive relationships between schools and families.
Ideas for author presentations during family literacy events:

Interactive reading session followed by author question/answer time (grades pre-school - 3)
Interactive reading followed by an author-led writing activity (grades K-5 with parents supporting younger students)
